You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you\u2019re not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong.\u201d Literature is unique but it is limitless in its extent, for \u201cliterature is life,\u201d as Robert A. Nimmo puts it. \u2018We belong\u2019, as literature is human. Human narrates the story and is told in the story. Human makes hi(s)tory and is told in hi(s)tory. Literature is human\/ities and it \u201cis the question minus the answer\u201d for \u201cthe birth of the reader,\u201d as Roland Barthes suggests. We come to set sail for new articles, new writers, and new readers. We come to take responsibility for the space <em>we belong<\/em> to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Essence &amp; Critique: Journal of Literature and Drama Studies <\/em><\/strong>welcomes papers and book reviews addressing general studies on Literature and Drama from all disciplines within the Humanities. As a multi- and interdisciplinary journal, we particularly welcome research with an interdisciplinary approach. Papers may be theoretical, empirical, or interpretative in nature, and all submissions will be considered. Trinidad (Yale University)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CALL FOR EDITORIAL BOARD MEMBERS<\/strong><br>While the journal currently has a distinguished editorial team, <em>Essence &amp; Critique: Journal of Literature and Drama Studies<\/em> is looking for new Editorial Board Members with the passion to drive the journal forward in an exciting period of development. It is a significant role that will require active engagement with the journal and author community, particularly in assisting with peer review. The role of the Editorial Board (EB) is to act as an ambassador for the journal, working closely with the Editor in Chief and Associate Editors to promote the journal content and engage with the journal\u2019s reader and author community.
