EJES operates a two-stage review process.

  1. Contributors are invited to submit 500-word proposals for full essays on the topic in question, usually with a September/October deadline.
  2. Following review of the proposals by the editorial board panel, informed by external specialists where appropriate, guest editors invite the authors of short-listed proposals to submit full-length essays for review, usually with a March/April deadline.
  3. The full essays undergo another round of review by the panel and a final selection is agreed between the guest editors and general editors for delivery usually by October.

EJES uses an author: date citation system and employs British English conventions for spelling and punctuation.

As of Volume 24 (2020), EJES follows the Taylor & Francis Standard Reference Style: Chicago author-date. Click here for the style sheet and here for a sample essay.
